An exciting opportunity to join a growing Art and Design team in an innovative and rapidly developing school.
Shireland CBSO Academy, opened in September 2023, is a unique institution established in partnership with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. As the country’s first state school to open in partnership with an arts organisation, our academy offers an ambitious, creative and inclusive environment where every student’s potential is nurtured and celebrated.
We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teacher of Food Technology to join our expanding Art and Design department. This role would suit either an experienced practitioner or an Early Career Teacher eager to develop within a supportive and forward‑thinking environment. You will be part of the team delivering Food Technology to our first KS4 cohort, helping to shape a high‑quality, relevant and engaging curriculum that develops practical skills, food science understanding and nutritional awareness.
You will join a reflective, collaborative team with high aspirations for students. The Art and Design department is committed to fostering creativity, independence and technical proficiency through hands‑on practical learning, confident use of specialist equipment, and a strong focus on health, safety and food hygiene. As the academy continues to grow, there will be opportunities for career development, including curriculum planning, leading enrichment, developing extracurricular cooking clubs, mentoring colleagues, and contributing to whole‑school teaching and learning initiatives.
Our school benefits from a vibrant, music‑rich learning community, state‑of‑the‑art facilities, and a culture built on inclusion, creativity and ambition. Through the Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust, you will also have access to extensive CPD that supports your professional growth and future leadership potential.
Whether you are looking to take the next step in your teaching career or seeking your first teaching post, we offer a highly supportive environment and the opportunity to help shape the future of Food Technology at our academy.
Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects its entire staff to share this commitment. All post-holders will be required to have an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), including a Children’s Barred List check for posts carrying out a regulated activity.
