LOCATION: Wednesfield Technology Primary School

GRADE: Band F SCP 26-31

SALARY: £37,280 to £41,772 Pro Rata (£35,846 to £40,165 actual salary)

HOURS: 37 hours per week, term time + 3 weeks

We are looking for a well-qualified and experienced DSL to be the operational lead for safeguarding at Wednesfield Technology Primary, to work closely with the leadership team, families, school staff and Trust. In addition to this, someone who understands the statutory requirements for monitoring attendance, has experience in identifying patterns of absence and can work closely with families and staff to promote excellent attendance across school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To support child protection systems, arrangements in place to enable the Academy to undertake their statutory responsibilities for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • To provide safeguarding advice and guidance to Academy and client school staff to promote the welfare of students.
  • To monitor, evaluate and support with reporting on the effectiveness of safeguarding arrangements
  • To monitor attendance and punctuality, taking a lead role in the whole academy, promoting an Inclusive Attendance approach.
  • Supporting the leadership team in their statutory responsibilities and ensuring that attendance is in line with or above national expectation.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

The successful candidate will:

  • Have Module One Safeguarding Training or equivalent, be ECAF trained, Lead Professional and Outcomes Star Trained.
  • Have a minimum of two years experience of working in safeguarding and child protection procedures. 
  • Have worked for a minimum of 2 years with young people, have experience of record keeping and managing a case load of work and have worked on cases managed at both Early Help level and Child Protection level.

While we are ideally looking for a candidate with demonstrable experience managing safeguarding within school, we are open to applications from outstanding candidates with a strong grounding in child protection and demonstrable successful experience supporting the most vulnerable children and families outside of the education sector – for all prospective candidates, a passion for supporting young people, tenacity, commitment and an in depth knowledge of safeguarding practices across all relevant agencies will be vital for success. In addition to this, we are looking for a candidate that understands the statutory requirements around attendance and has had demonstratable success in working with families and school staff to improve school attendance.
